You might be wondering: "Is this a blog? A podcast? A membership site? A coaching practice? What exactly is going on here?"
Fair question. The answer is: yes, let me explain.
The Problem With Categories
Most sobriety coaches have a standard setup: Instagram for visibility, a simple landing page with their services, maybe a newsletter. Clean. Professional. Forgettable.
I tried thinking about building something like that, and lasted about five minutes before I got bored.
Here's the thing: I'm not just a sobriety coach. I'm also a writer, a photographer and a normal human being. That "normality" informs how I work with sobriety. Trying to separate "David the coach" from "David the creative thinker" felt dishonest. So I didn't.
What This Site Actually Is
It's a blog where I write essays about sobriety, philosophy, recovery, and whatever else I'm thinking about. Long-form thinking, not social media soundbites.
It's a vlog/podcast platform for my "Unfiltered" series - 5-15 minute musings recorded wherever I happen to be. Belgrade park bench, Warsaw café, kitchen table. Raw thoughts, no production, no script.
It's a membership community where you'll get updates when I publish new posts, insights I only share with members, and first notice of upcoming events or programs.
It's a coaching practice where I offer one-to-one sessions and my Phenomenal program for people who want structured support.
Basically, it's me - all the parts of me, in one place. Slightly messy, intellectually curious, creatively engaged, professionally competent, and absolutely committed to helping people get sober without the recovery script.
My Free Tools & Resources
You might notice I share a lot of practical exercises and tools from my Phenomenal program - things like values assessments, reflection frameworks, and transformation activities. These aren't watered-down teasers. They're real, usable practices that work.
So why give them away?
Because I want you to experience my approach before you commit to anything.
Think of it this way: these individual tools are like learning to use a few essential woodworking tools at a workshop. You'll leave with skills and might even build something useful. But if you want to construct an entire house? You need the complete toolkit, the blueprints, and someone experienced guiding you through the process.
What's genuinely free:
- My thinking, philosophy, and approach to sobriety
- Sample activities and exercises (real ones, not dumbed-down versions)
- Stories, insights, and resources
- Enough value to help you + understand how I work
What Phenomenal provides:
- The complete structured system (100+ activities working together)
- The framework that ties everything together systematically
- Community support and accountability
- Ongoing guidance through the 12-week transformation
- The "how to use all these tools in sequence" roadmap
What my 1:1 coaching provides:
- Personalised application of everything
- Direct access to me
- Custom strategies for your specific situation
I'm not holding back the "good stuff" - I'm sharing genuine tools while being clear that sustainable transformation requires structure, support, and the complete system working together.
If you're just exploring, use the free resources. If you're ready for serious change, that's where Phenomenal and coaching come in.
Why This Design?
I like this website - it's bright, contemplative, and eye-catching without being too flashy. It handles text beautifully, showcases my writing well, and has that slightly edgy, philosophical vibe that matches how I think about sobriety.
Plus it doesn't look like every other recovery website with stock photos of sunrises and inspirational quotes. I'm allergic to generic.
The Generous Default Philosophy
Everything I create here is freely accessible. Essays, stories, podcast episodes, resources - you don't need to pay to access any content.
Free membership simply exists for people who want the newsletter and closer connection through regular updates.
But the foundation is completely open, and it always will be. I'm not building a funnel to extract money from vulnerable people. I'm sharing what I know openly, and if some people want the newsletter delivered to their inbox, that option exists.
What This Means For You
If you're just here to read essays and watch vlogs - brilliant. Everything you need is freely accessible.
If you want the newsletter and member updates - join for free.
If you want direct coaching support - book a discovery call or some sessions and we'll figure out what makes sense.
If you're not sure what you want - explore freely. There's no pressure to decide anything right now.
The Slightly Weird Part
Granted, this setup is unusual. Most sobriety coaches don't run membership sites or write philosophical essays about their practice and experience.
But I'm not most sobriety coaches.
I'm someone who believes sobriety is about becoming more yourself, not conforming to a recovery identity. And this site reflects that philosophy - it's unapologetically me, doing work I care about, in ways that feel authentic.
If that resonates with you, welcome. If it feels too unconventional or intellectually dense or just weird - that's fine too. I hope you find something that resonates.
But if you're thinking "finally, someone who treats sobriety like an intelligent person's pursuit rather than a surrender ritual" - yeah, you're in the right place.
Still Confused?
That's okay. Explore the site, read some essays, watch / listen to a few Unfiltered episodes. It'll make sense as you go.
Or just book a free discovery call and ask me directly: "David, what the hell is this site supposed to be?"
I'll tell you. Probably with a laugh, because honestly, I'm still figuring it out too.
The difference is I'm doing it sober, creatively engaged, and genuinely excited about the work. That's not nothing.
